Led by Dr Victoria Balzin and Dr Mel Waters from Northumbria University's Liberating Histories project, which explores UK feminist magazines from 1968 to the present day. This workshop gives you a special opportunity to look through a range of feminist magazines from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, including Spare Rib, Scarlet Women, Sappho, Red Rag, Shocking Pink, Mukti, Bad Attitude, Harpies and Quines, and many others. Together, we’ll explore how these magazines represent the experiences of women in the North East and consider the legacies of the women's liberation movement.
