CALL OUT: Trustee - Finance, Property Strategy and Growth

Location: Middlesbrough / Tees Valley
Role: Volunteer Trustee
Commitment: 3–5 days per year (40 hours)

Term: 36 months extendable by agreement
Remuneration: Voluntary expenses reimbursed 

About Creative Factory

Creative Factory Middlesbrough is a charity focused on supporting the development of the creative industries, digital innovation and cultural regeneration across Middlesbrough and the wider Tees Valley.

The organisation acquires and develops commercial and residential property to provide spaces for artists, creative businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs. Its work combines property development, investment activity, strategic partnerships and community engagement to support the long-term sustainability of the creative sector in the region.

The Role

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance, strategic direction and financial oversight of the charity.

As a Trustee, you will contribute to Board-level decision-making and provide independent oversight of the organisation’s activities, with particular focus on finance, property, investment, governance and risk.

We are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

● Finance and investment

● Property and real estate

● Strategy and governance

● Social investment

● Regeneration or creative industries

Trustees ensure the charity is well governed, financially sustainable and operating in line with its charitable objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Governance

● Oversee financial health and sustainability

● Review budgets and financial reporting

● Support financial decision-making

● Ensure compliance with charity law

● Advise on fundraising and investment

Property & Asset Management

● Support property acquisition and development strategy

● Advise on investment opportunities

● Ensure assets meet creative sector needs

Partnerships & Stakeholders

● Build relationships with key partners including local authorities, universities, investors and creative sector organisations

Social Investment & Fundraising

● Support development of investment fund

● Identify funding and investment opportunities

● Use networks to support organisational growth

Who we are looking for

We are seeking individuals with senior-level experience who can bring strategic insight and professional expertise to the Board.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

● Finance or investment

● Property or development

● Creative industries

● Regeneration or public sector

● Business leadership or entrepreneurship
